R2 and R2M different?

I'm thinking about taking the plunge and getting a RF. For the price, it's really tough to beat a Bessa. I've narrowed it down to either an R2M or an R3M (leaning towards R2M). I've seen references to R2's. Are they the same as R2M's? If not, what are the differences? I've gone through the Cameraquest website and I've only seen mentions of differences between the R and R2 and the R2M/R3M/R2A/R3A, but not between the R2 and R2M. Thanks!

The differences between the R2 and the R2M are minimal. Both are mechanical-shutter bodies with 0.72 viewfinders. The R2M has a slightly more sophisticated meter display and is marginally better built.

There is another difference. The R2 can only focus up to 1m (or maybe 0.9m),
while the R2M minimum focussing distance is .7m. The difference may be important
sometimes (depending on the lens you are using).

I was always wondering if there was another difference: the R2M is supposed to be quieter than the R2, and the shutter looks different (a white stripe in the front curtain ?). The R2M was built post-Zeiss Ikon, the R2 before.

Yes, later R2Ms use the metering design of the ZI.

rewind knob is better on the R2M AND the R2 has the three dot LED while the R2M has the -2 -1.5 -1 -.5 0 +.5 +1 +1.5 + 2 LED

I like the R4M [basic difference being the frame lines] much more than the R2

I have no R2M to compare, but my R2 shutter is loud, IMHO.

i'd say the shutter on my r4a is as loud as my r2 was - much louder than my m7ii. but people more than a few feet away still can't hear it.

i actually didn't mind the rewind knob on the r2. it's less 'snaggy' than the current one. in any event, regardless of which way you go, you'll end up wwith a fine body.
