I'm on the fence here! not really sure what to do . I getting an RF next month. I've been salavating over a grey R2a with a 35 Ultron for a while. But then I read that the R2m is fully mechanical. So of course now I want a r2m but not with that Heliar lens. I preffer 35mm to 50 as norm. So what to do. do I forsake my grey beauty for a black beauty then try to sell/trade the lens or keep it around and see if it grows on me or just get the R2a. What your opinions:bang:

How rear are the readily available batteries of the R2a in Greece? I guess my point is, will the electronic shutter be a burden at all if you just have to change the battery when it runs out? The R2a can be operated in manual mode just as the R2m, but the R2m cannot operate in AE if you ever want to do that. Or, Cameraquest is selling the R2m body alone without lens for only $21 more than a grey R2a, you can buy it not worrying about the lens and just get your Ultron.

Hi,

I thought it would be nice to have a fully mechanical camera like my old OM1 but AE is hard to give up on a R2a. I shoot mostly AE on my DSLR and will use it in a similar way.

The grey bodies are nice and I had a chance to buy one when I chose my R3a but I didn't think that the grey finish would wear as well so I went with the black. It seems a tougher finish.

Either way nice camera...

hey Hiyawaan,

I also like the r2m much more for it´s mechanical purity but I would get the Set pretty much for the lens only (since my m3 leaves nothing to be desired..body wise) 😉

How about you get yourself the R2m Set and I buy the lens from You? (were both in EU so i guess shipping aint too expensive) if you are interested, just tell me how much you would like to get for it and I´m sure we can make a deal good for both of us. (i´m lusting for this Heliar for a long time now)

would be nice to hear from You!

The R2a and R3a do NOT work at all if the battery goes out. Having said that. I agree bateries are everywhere. And the R*A's are not battery hungry. The AE is a dream when you have little time to catch the shot. Having said that, I am dreaming of a R3M. There is room for it near my pillow along side my R3A.

I guess I was romantisizing a trek across the himalaya's with my all mechanical yetti aproved nicker removing Rangefinder. I can live with batteries but I'm real set on the grey anyway. R2a 4me until they release special starwars edition R2d2 with mechanical lightsaber.

I am in the same boat but throwing around the M6 w/summicron and zeiss option idea as well..along with an R2M black or silver!!!!! too many choices

For the money, I'd consider the R2A and use the rest to get another bottle (lens)

If you have the lenses, the M6 could be the lure into Leicadom. Try one for size if you can.

The R2m is tempting for me but my Bessa R is just fine for me for day to day stuff.

Bottom line is do you wandtAE, I found it handy on my M7 but dont miss it with the Bessas.

I'm sorry, I'm just in and out of this conversation but...I'm having trouble getting a price from CameraQuest for one of those R2d2's...?

These aren't the droids you're looking for...

But on a more serious note, I'm split on AE. I have a yashica GSN that's awesome, but sometimes I just want all the manual control. It's seen very little use since I got my bessa-r despite the killer glass on the yashica. I like being able to (try at least) to control motion and blur. I am tempted for a R2M, if only so i can get that 35/1.2 nokton. But still, it be nice to have the option of AE. And the gray is very cool. 🙂
