How much of a real advantage is the 1:1 viewfinder of the R3m over the R2m? I would prefer to have the 35mm lines but am tempted by the larger view. Thanks.

Tate, it's a matter of personal shooting habits.

If you plan to use the camera mainly with the Classic Heliar, or if you shoot mainly 50mm and tele lenses, then the R3m is a better match, because it has higher magnification, thus better rangefinder accuracy. Later you can add a Bessa L for using with wider lenses.

On the other hand, if your normal lens is a 35 or 40mm, then I guess you will find it cumbersome to use it with an external viewfinder, so go for the R2m. Later you can always add a Bessa T for focusing more accurately with fast 50mm or tele lenses.

Cheers,

Abbazz
