Hi,

My LR44s have died on me. So, looking for replacement batteries, I see that SR44s are also possible to put into the R3A.

Please can someone explain to me why I should pick one over the other?

You are 100% correct but the GBP differential is large you can get large bubble cards Ch manufacture for less than the price of one SR44.

Some cameras are ok with LR44, some not.

i get the sr44s in big plastic containers - about 100 for about $6 i use them in my all of my cameras. they are also good for kid's toys
 
I use a single CR 1/3N, less contacts to corrode, I've still got the original I put in my R2 when I bought it six years ago!! The same with the one in the Bessa T, been in it for years.
