Hello,

Hopefully I'm not doing anything obviously stupid, but I picked up an R3A off ebay last week, and when I went to put film into it for the first time on Saturday, the film advance indicator doesn't move.

The previous owner insists it was ok when he sold it (of course), and claims that the film may not be loaded correctly, although i thought it would increase even without a film in if the door was shut.

So. The film is in, the advance lever works correctly (and the rewind dial on the left also turns, so the film is winding on). The shutter fires correctly.

I've tried three films in the camera and it still doesn't advance.

Does anyone know what the issue could be, or if it's a common fault (haven't seen any posts here on it)

Thanks

Hmmm I have the R3A and have never heard of this happening. I would shoot through a test roll then see if images are actually being captured. That's really strange.

I don't have R3A, but every camera I've had - RF or not, including Bessa R, Leica M3, M6, etc - all move counter with or without the film. I'd ask for a refund/return if I were you. Possibly one thing to check - if that little button on the bottom of the camera, used ofr a rewind is NOT stuck pressed in - not sure if it could cause this problem, but something to check.
