Hi I sold a R3a in perfect working order and indeed the buyer has used the camera without problem untill now.He has contacted me to see if i can point him in the right direction ie repairs or diagnosis. The double image is jumping around and when he points the camera down focus is ok but if he points the camera up it wont focus and in horizontal the focus stops at about 2-3 meters and wont focus closer.Would i be right in thinking that he may have knocked the camera and it now has a very bad case of misalighnment.Or is it something more serious. Thanks for any input and i will do my best to advise him as i think he may be a first time rangefinder user.

hi, this is marcus.

i bought the camera from you. maybe my english was not the best. the double image is not really jumping around, i just meant it always stops at different points when i turn the focus wheel on the lens, but always around 2-3 meters. it looks like it moves too slowly with the turning of the focus wheel and then it sometimes "jumps" a little further until it finally stops moving.
also im sure that i didnt knock it, i always handled it with great care.
i think it has something to do with the transmission from the lens to the camera.
when i removed the lens, i discovered some hard white stuff on the right of the two wires that are visible in the camera mount. i very gently tried to remove it, but it wouldnt work. maybe that stuff is the reason that the transmission is disabled.
i have now send the camera to a repair shop in bremen, who do voigtländer cameras. the told me it usually costs around 200€, but i somehow hope it wont be that expensive.
