Just got an email from Photo Village that they have received a small shipment of R3a's and Nokton 40/1.4's.

I would hope this means Stephen Gandy has received his shipment as well!

I got an email from Rich offering to sell me a Nocton 40mm/f1.4 S.C. at $399. Not a particularly good offer considering Stephen Gandy is selling them at $349 with estimated shipping beginning today.

The email I got from them quoted the price for the 40/1.4 at $349, same as Gandy. The hood was an extra $45. I'm not at all familiar with Photo Village's operation - can't vouch for their accuracy or honesty.

I am curious that both CameraQuest and PhotoVillage are listing the R2a at $599 while B&H, usually more expensive, is going to carry it at $549!

Perhaps the price increase that hit the first two outfits is yet to hit B&H's pricing?

It would make sense rover but I dont think that's the deal. To quote the email:

"We have a few of the single coat version now in stock for $399."

I think Rich is charging a premium for the S.C. lens which is fine, he can do what he likes. It's just that the competition is selling both versions of the lens at the same price.

Don't get me wrong, I like Rich a lot. IMO he is a person of integrity and I bought my M6 and a CV 35mm lens from him as well as some other stuff and I have been extremely happy with his service. BTW he is hosting a Leica day in his store on Saturday, can't find the card here but I think it runs from 11:00am to 8:00pm.

I have done business with both Rich Pinto and Steve Gandy, all good experiences. It is strange that they are a little off kilter when it comes to the CV stuff. I would almost bet that Gandy got the price wrong on the lens too and has to honor a number of orders for that at the lower price. Rich Pinto did not take deposits for the new stuff, just created a waiting list. He is honoring the original R3a price for those on the waiting list prior to the change, perhaps he doesn't have to do the same with the SC lens as he may have just had a waiting list for the MC version.

Here is the email that I received yesterday from them - to be honest, he does not specifically quote the price of the SC lens.

OK, everyone, here is the annoucement many have waited for:

We have received our first (small) shipment of Voigtlander R3-A bodies and 40mm f1.4 S.C. lenses as well as VCII meters in chrome.

The R3-A is $599.
The 40mm f1.4 M lens is $349.
The LH-5 shade for the 40mm lens if desired is $45.
VC Meter II, chrome, is $159.
