Well, I tried my hand at RF photography and it just isn't for me. I love this little camera, but I'm trying to leave film behind and work exclusively with digital. If I need film I can always haul out the big EOS 3.

So RFF people here's your chance to buy a R3A w/ 40mm Nokton at a decent price.

The camera and lens are in excellent shape. Included with the camera is a black Bessa strap, metal hood and B/W UV filter. I can send pictures later in the week. I'll take questions about the camera at my private e-mail address: cekrause@earthlink.net for the rest of this week. Starting Monday, Feb. 20th, I will begin taking bids at the same address. Bids will no longer be accepted after midnight on Friday, Feb. 24th. At that time I will contact the highest bidder and arrange shipment. Shipping and insurance will add $10 to the final cost. If the bids do not meet my reserve price ($500), the camera will go on eBay.

About 20 rolls of film have been shot with this camera. Also, the RF patch seems to be just a little off. I usually find a horizontal or vertical line to focus on or just use the DOF scale on the lens.

Good luck to and thanks to all of you who answered my questions. This is a tremendous site full of experienced RF users.

Good luck,

I guess he couldn't wait for a digital Leica M so he went with the next best name? I don't know. With a 20mm he must have been cheek to cheek with his subjects. 😎

I don't think most of us are interested in entering a bidding competion against each other. I think it's best, and proper 'nettiquitte to either set a selling price here, or just go to ebay if you want to see some bids. IOW, it's not nice to pit RFF members against each other. Just my opinion, but I suspect it may be others' too.

Same opinion as george s.

If you want people to bid for the highest price, well Ebay is the place.

My belief is that we have on RFF a photographic communuty and that people sell items here because those cameras and lenses will find a proper home.

Best regards

I was hoping for a bidding war that would drive the price up into the Leica range.

I understand, and agree that it would be best to just set a price. There's a lot of good people on this site and I wouldn't want to piss them off.

So my price will stand at $700 or best offer.

Thanks for the advice George.

What's this $700 or BO stuff? Does that mean if I email you today and say "Done at $700!" you'll tell me, "Ok, now please wait while I see if someone else beats you..." Wait for how long? One day, two? If we agree and then start to discuss payent options and in the meantime someone emails and tells you they'll give you $725 you'll then tell me too bad? This is too wishy-washy. Is $700 your price or not? This is little better than your original plan. Give a price that you will accept and be done with it, or put it on eBay.

I guess I've been using eBay too long. I figure everyone likes a good auction or the excitement of getting something for a good price. Here is the final word on this camera and lens.

$700 plus shipping and handling

I apologize for any confusion.

Huh. I think "best offer" or "OBO" is a pretty standard thing, and not actually at all inappropriate. It _usually_ means that I could offer Clint, say, $600. That would be _my_ best offer. He could come back and tell me that's not enough, and perhaps give me a counter offer, etc.

When I sell things, I always _say_ OBO, and I have a personaly policy that if someone negotiates with me such that I accept his/her best offer, then that's who gets the item. If someone comes to me afterwards and tells me that they'll pay me more, I will usually sell it to the first person anyway. The only exception is if the second offer is a LOT more than the first. I would give the first person "first dibs" to meet it. I don't think that's unfair at all - I'm selling it because I want to make money, after all.
