1. pix from test roll in R4A and new 40mm nok SC.

2. my first roll of film in my fleebay tank. 24 frames of HP5+ pushed to 800.

My only thoughts so far - I'm a rookie cook and I should've taken more care with the dev. And I got it very dusty. Film scans, before work. I think I'll try to print a couple of these and see if I can't learn something. My 5D is just sitting quitely on the shelf over there and wondering why I'm mucking around with film...

No complaints from me about the R4. Still learning how to drive it.

I like your photos. Maybe slightly overdeveloped? I know nothing about scanning film, but I have read on this forum various threads regarding the differences between scanning silver grain negatives and color negatives. Might answer part of the graininess issue you are referring to.

dont sweat it too much. as you develop more you'll get it figured. it's really hard to tell if there's any developing mistakes as scanning film is a tricky buisiness. depending on what scanner you are using you might actually be adding "grain/noise" in the scanning process. combine that with a film rated at 800 and you'll get some grain... never understood this "no noise/grain" thing these days anyhow. might i take a moment to recommend software like vuescan and the like. most scanner software right out of the box is sadly lacking.
for a brand new cook it looks pretty good to me!

Thx for the encouragement. I think I got a couple of keepers. The stairwell shot would've been better if the bricks were'nt painted perhaps. I like the Mark Soliger shoots...

Have fun figuring out the development stuff! I started with HC110, now using Rodinal, trying to find the "perfect" mix of chemical, time, agitation, temperature, etc... It's ALL practice...

Superior Camera & Lens :)
I'm very interested to see something really wide - R4A + 20mm lens on street test maybe ?
I have bought some Ilford XP2 in bulk and plan to use the first rolls in the R4. My widest is a 24mm I I will post here (eventually) if they are interesting.

Carzee, excelent pix, love the tone, don't worry you will learn with time I have been interested in photography for 44 years and I am still learning, make it an ejoyment not a task, life is too short. and don't work too hard either, regards to Queensland.
