When Toronto-based photographer Robert Burley documented the closure of Kodak's main Canadian branch plant in 2005 he had little inkling that this was just the beginning of what would turn out to be the rapid demise of film and the huge factories that produced it around the world.

Really good listen. I think Robert Burley has been with the program.. for many years.

I'm sure he has. But when he begins his essay with '... in the last two years, I notice more and more young people are turning from film to digital ...', I've got to wonder where he has been for the last ten years. Kids have been shooting digital for as long as I've been old enough to call them kids!

Chris, I think he meant to say that in the past 2 years, kids are turning from digital to film 😉

I'm not so sure anymore... I'm starting to see less film cameras around NYC than two years ago and I hang out with mostly film users. 2-3 years ago, I'd see 20 year olds every day with film cameras, now it is once a week or so. At least in NYC. I'm starting to see more Fuji X cameras around NYC too. Not seeing as many Lomos either.
