Raising Money for the New Folder?

8x10 would be very nice. But the problem is that I can't turn the clock back 30 years. I doubt I can even take a no.3 Gitzo out nevermind the 8x10 camera!

I was talking about 8x10 prints, in response to your statement that "Also I will not give up MF for 35mm. Moving back from something enlargeable to some(thing) that cannot is just too much of a let down."

Wow!!! you're underrating your BESSA II.....

Wow!!! you're underrating your BESSA II.....

I'm thinking about selling a Bessa II with the APO-Lanthar lens to finance part of the cost of the Bessa III..

That last two or three Bessa II's with Apo Lanthar that I saw sold, brought $2500 to $3000.

That's two or two and a half of the Bessa III's so far as prices I have heard.

Bessa II's with Heliars bring $500 to $600, but that Apo Lanthar is a rare and highly sought item.

How did you come up with your figures. Are you anticipating the Bessa III to be more than $3000. Figures I have heard on the Fuji GF670 have been homing in on $1200, and I can't imagine the Bessa III to be much more than that???

This new medium format folder has me intrigued, although anything more than $1k for it and it will probably kick me off the buyer's list.

I'm getting out of scanning my own 35mm film, I just don't think all the effort is worth it compared to my DSLR. I am going to start using the developing and scanning lab that Ken Rockwell is currently recommending for 35mm film. Medium format and my flat bed scanner... now THAT is a different story.

So I'm selling my DSLR body & flash while it still has some value, will sell my Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV and then beg and plead with my wife for the extra to invest is this new Fuji/Voigtlander and explain how it "will retain its value" which I think will pretty much be true.

Oh yeah, I need to pick up a Panasonic LX3 point and shoot that everyone is raving about to cover my digital needs...

Why all the overwhelming lust for this new folder?.....at the size of enlargement that most amateurs make, a good Nettar, with a Novar,- or Perkeo and Vaskar, would probably give indistinguishable results! :)

Dave.

I try not to let this hobby cost my family too much money, so I tend to sell things off when possible to pay for new toys. ...
So, what are you willing to let go of to get something new in the near future? Are you the type that never lets go of anything, or do you see most of the cameras you own as tools to be traded off when a better/more interesting tool comes along?

there are certain gears that I will not sell and remain central to my operation --such as my Leica MP and 35mm Summilux ASPH. My backup M and other lenses I buy and trade depending on my projects or trips I take. I like to keep it down to gear that I will actually use.

I also like to keep a good MF on hand. I went thru a variety of MF gear over the past few years -- all of it great stuff BTW -- and finally returned to Hasselblad.

Mine is not in minty condition rather it is a user and needs a CLA so I do not expect it to fetch the amount you mentioned, if I were to sell it.
