Hello!
I have just checked some color images from Ralph Gibson I absolutly loved them, though not the once in brasil, I am interested what kind of film is he using? negative? slide? kodak? fuji? which exactly? :D do we have this information? :) thanks for sharing :)

Thanks alot Chaser! what a great read!
I have a doubt he is using fuji now but
Ralph: Transparencies scan OK. I don’t mind scanning a transparency like Kodachrome, but I just don’t shoot Kodachrome anymore. Scanning black and white or color negatives don’t give me the results that I want.
this made me think...

and here http://www.ralphgibson.com/archive/index.php?album=7
make sure to check all the pages, I just love the colors and tonalitys, its like slide but not quet because it has alot of information, if its negative I would love to shoot with it :) well even if its slide :)

Thanks for the link. Great to see a photographer putting all his work up. I have the book Somnambulist, and the link here to the book includes EVERYTHING in the book. Kewl!

:)

I am absolutly in love with his photos, thats all I have being doing on the weekend, looking at them one by one :) since it is too hot outside :)

I have always loved Mr Gibsons work. He does get dissed quite a bit on this site though. I haven't seen much of this color work, but it is very interesting. Thanks for the links.

I'm not impressed...

Give me 3 years and some nude models and I could come up with better. Sorry if that sounds arrogent, it's only bitterness. :)

I must not "get" art, as I didn't see anything he did that I haven't seen done better elsewhere. He must be a good marketer, or something?

Well, I'm a big fan of his work. More so after reading the interview. Anyone who can make an interesting photo of a simple cardboard box has my admiration.

Chris/Larry: So you’re not just previsualizing the image, you’re visualizing the process?

Ralph: I’m communicating with my materials. It’s different than previsualizing.

Frank: Aw, come on!

(Sorry, more bitterness. I want to shoot nudes and be paid for it!)

I'm not sure how to respond. I could go with either:

Let me clarify!

or:

Okay. It'd be interesting.

there's lots here to photograph...i'd bet there would be lots of people wanting to pay.

maybe we could start a website...

Here's another fun quote:

Ralph: I think film has more intelligence than I have.

So Ralph G is dumber than a roll of film! :)

(I so hate this art babble!)

Just to demonstrate how dedicated a photographer I am, I think that the older, non-Adonis type male (sorry) deserves to be celebrated just as normal not perfect females should be. Our culture is too obsessed with the perfect body. I have to be honest though and admit that I'd prefer to work with women. Who are fit.

Why the bitterness Frank? The nudes represent only a portion of a varied body of work, though I admit that many of them are a bit theatrical for my tastes.
