I have noticed an effinity for both, on here. I thought I would start the thread with two interesting stories.
First the Yashica GSN
I bought one new in the Navy Exchange,Phillipines, in '73. I was stolen while I was on R&R in Brisbane, Aus. Left it laying on a bar :bang: I found this one on *bay and bought it with the box, flash adn box for it. When it arrived the warranty papers were still in the box and a woman bought it from the same place a few weeks later. 😱
The .45 auto is a Govt. issue 1911( converted to a 1911A1) Owned by my Great grand-father HL Morrison. It was given to him by his brother Tom Morrison of Winnfield, La. Uncle Tom acquired it on May 23, 1934 In Bienville Parish, la. For you history buffs it is the day Bonnie and Clyde were killed. Uncle Tom came along right afterwards and he knew one of the two La. policemen at the shooting. He asked Frank Hamer if he could have that old .45 laying on the seat. With approval of Frank and his supervisor Lee simmons Uncle Tom was given the gun.

Hmmmmm------rangefinders and firearms---the 16" guns---actuallly rifles---on Navy battleships had outstanding optical rangefinders. The early battleships had .45 cal 16 inchers--the later ones had .50 cal.

Probably toatally useless info!! 🙂 🙂

so you're saying that .45 was in the car with Bonnie and Clyde when they were killed??
According to what my Mother told me it was. Of course there is no documentation but these were honorable men. Grandma said there were still bloodstains on it. My family was from East Texas and west La. They knew most of the lawmen in the posse. Frank hamer was a texas ranger and a family friend. Years later he told Great grandpa he would like to thank Tom for his help, in getting the car back on the road, so he was there. The serial number for the gun shows it was stolen in Mo. at the time Clyde was there. It was in the possecion of a Joplin bank gaurd. I have always believed this story because I documented several of Grandpa morrisons civil war stories as true. Momma always said he had a remarkable memory for history and details. She did too and I also. There was also a ring said to have come off Bonnie's finger but my cousin got it.

I'm wasn't questioning your veracity.. I just wanted to be sure I understood correctly.. that's an incredible piece of history.. not to mention a great pistol

I'll have to take some snaps of my Kimber when I get home

I never thought you were. I was just explaining further.

I hope more will post a RF & firearm photo

here's my shooting irons.. my 1966 Kiev 4a and a Kimber CDP II.. I don't have any great stories to go along with them.. but they're still both very fun to point and shoot

thanks.. it only took me about an hour to set up.. LOL.. and I still didn't get the lighting right

I've owned and shot many handguns.. so far the Kimber is my favorite, bar none.. of course I haven't actually used a Dan Brown or a Wilson CQB.. yet

I've also got a Marvel .22 conversion kit for it, along with a red-dot sight.. makes for cheap target practice with groups so tight even I look good

I'll try to find a way to get a shot of my R2 with my Defender 1300 in pistol grip config. The difference in size will be problematic though...
