Hello, my name is Peter and I am a rangefinder addict. I am constantly thinking of getting new lenses and cameras. But I have decided that I have enough cameras and lenses to last me a lifetime of amateur photography. I will stop buying new gears till all my current equipment has worn out. I know I am weak and I wish my fellow addicts will help me cure my addiction by constantly discouraging me to buy when the temptation to do so is overcoming my resolve. I have spoken and I shall retire to my room and self-flagellate. Mea culpa! 😱

Peter, you have come to the wrong place for this type of Support! Just think, somewhere there is a sad and lonely camera inherited by some guy that only shoots digital P&S that is just hoping that you will get it on EBay!

Like:

Some camera, made out of metal, name says Leica (never heard of it), can't figure out how to put batteries in, so did not test. Some funny name lens, Noctilux. First $50 takes it...

Careful with that whipping! It could become addictive. And don't swing about nilly-willy or you'll hit them RF's!

But all jokes aside, I have nothing but respect for you guys. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for y'all to restrain yourselves so much and fight that demon inside. I don't have any of your problems. I'm not addicted. I don't need your help and support. I don't even like RF cameras! 🙂

I don’t have a problem.. The Zorki 5 I just bought, well I didn't have that model yet and the nice J8 made it a steal ... the 35mm VF is for the J12 I bought last month and now I wont look at ebay till next month pay day because I know I will see some must buy bargains ... I have things under control right?

Peter, you should know that rangefinder collecting is a bit like the secret service - once you're in, then that's it, there's no return. Resist all you like, you can't stop know. Sooner or later you WILL weaken! Another camera or lens will be whispering quietly to you "Peter...buy me...buy me..."

Or am I just trying to convince myself that I am not also addicted? After all, it's been two whole months since I bought another camera I don't need..... the Oly SP doesn't count 'cause I haven't received it yet, and vintage light meters don't count, and filters don't count. So I'm definately not addicted!

ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

Well done Peter, the first step is admitting that you have a problem, I'd say you are on your way to recovery (applause). Peter, in order for your recovery to begin you must recognize your weakness, those extra lenses and camera bodies are dragging you further and further down the road to damnation! You must flee the evil temptress "ebay"and her wares, she cares not about you, nigh, she cares only about her seller ratings and positive feedback!
You need a mantra, a phrase to utter and repeat over and over that will give you dominance over this "gear whore". Peter next time you feel the siren call "buy it now, buy it now", close your eyes and repeat this phrase: "I am strong, I am fine, I can only use one lens at a time".
I hope these pearls of wisdom have helped in your journey to stay pure and undefiled grasshopper, if not then I suggest sending your all your gear to me, esp. that evil, tainted 35mm pancake II lens! 😀 😀 😀

I tell you, were all very sane here (while stroking a silver Leica body). At least, I'm sure I am (caressing the 'cron 50/2 and calling it "My precioussssssssss").

Where's my film? Who took away my lens caps? 🙁 What's happening to my canisters? 😱 I can't find my Kodachrome! :bang:

Oh yeah ! (tap tap on the Zorki), it's not as if WE had a problem ! (tap tap on the Canon 7), or as if we spent the day lusting about new equipment (light fast Alt-F4 on all Cosina, Leica, eBay and etc pages)... 🙄

However, sometimes I have a dream... my name's legion... and I can only see rangefinders ! 😱

First of all, Oscar that's a really cool self portrait!

Peter, lets start this painful quest of becoming a sane person again. I'll take the lead by getting rid of extra lenses with the same focal length. Probably the Nokton is the one that has to go first despite loving its result so much.

My resolution is to have one and only one lens for my Bessa and that will be the 35mm. We can get out of this wacky world. Be faithful...

.....and how much would I have to give for the Nokton Kris ????

Todd

I sold a Nokton! An original! With the Camera, the Prominent! And boy do I regret it after Cameraquest came out with the adapter to put it onto the Nikon S-Mount.

Hurray for Kris! That is what I should do, use only 35mm focal length only for my Bessa R2 as I am seeing better in 35mm anyway. I must be strong now even though I have to walk through the valley of rangefinders! Thank you guys for all the temptations as they are rather therapeutic. They make realise that I am sinking into gear collection rather than photography. Suddenly it makes me realise that loving your equipment too much will result in despair! I am in control! I am in control! But Photokina is just round the corner and .....................................

One week and I haven't made one single bid on eBay or even searched it....

I do have a Olympus 35LE camera coming my way (it's one of my last three models I want to get for my Oly 35 collection) - but I bought it before I made the resolution for the rest of the year 🙂

Hm..I wonder if there are any nice Tele-Elmarits on eBay...maybe even a cheap 'cron 90....hmmm.....but no!

I'm off to ripping CD's to place on the iPod....

hey come on guys, Peter needs help and we shouldn't just joke about it. Dear Peter, as much as it hurts me and dooms me, I am willing to sacrifice and bear your burden for you. However, there's a limit to how much I can shoulder.

my limit's roughly 1 bessa R2 body and a CV Ultron.
