Hi i have been wanting form fitted cases for my rangefinders for some time and it was going to be expensive (5 different cases) so you can imagine my delight when i came across the optech RF01 case to fit all ie contax g,leica m,bessa r , and canons and the cost £22 including shipping.I hope this post has been a help to those with a similar dilema.

Rather off topic, but if anyone is looking for a larger case to fit medium format rangefinders, you can find them here:

I use a similar case for my cams made by Zing. I sometimes fold back the top flap and fold the velcro over to fasten again at the front, making a kinda insert and then just place it in whatever bag I'm using. hope that makes sense.

I could never understand the attraction of the never-ready case!

I use a case similar to this when traveling, for cushioning in the bag. Once I reach my destination, it comes off and stays off until it is time to pack up and go home.
*edit* After looking at my case, I realized it is the exact same one. My M6 with the Luigi half case fits perfectly. My ZI with the CV 35 Color Skopar w/hood fits as well.

An eveready case offers a degree of protection when you leave your camera bag at home.
Fussing with a fitted case is no more time consuming than rummaging around a camera bag...

...except you're stuck with a big hunk of leather hanging off the bottom of your camera! And who said anything about using a camera bag?ChrisPlatt said:An eveready case offers a degree of protection when you leave your camera bag at home.

Ahh, just having fun. Different strokes etc. It doesn't matter what you use as long as you're out shooting.

Used buying tip

FWIW used cameras sold with the original fitted case
are usually in better condition than those lacking one.

Oooh, I must disagree here! I often evaluate used cameras for resale and find a great many of them that have been stored in their leather or leatherette cases are in quite poor shape.ChrisPlatt said:FWIW used cameras sold with the original fitted case

These cases don't breathe so they promote the growth of fungus in the lens and mildew on the body. Sometimes these cameras may look great on the outside but pop open the film door and you'll be treated to a pungent odour!
I'm not saying this is always the case but I can't tell you how many times I've seen "grampa's camera and all his lenses stored in their original cases in the closet for 40 years" rendered absolutely useless.

Hi i have several shoulder bags of various sizes i use depending on how many lenses i intend to use.But there are the days that i just want to wander with one camera and one lens so it needs protecting when im traveling in the car and if the weather turns bad. When i get where im going it will get squashed up and put in my pocket. So to me its the ideal pouch.Oh forgot to mention there is a version RF02 with a longer snout.
