Rangefinder / hotshoe attachment Ensign 820

I bought myself an Ensign Selfix 820 which I quite like. I saw another one where someone had added a hot shoe to the right-hand knob without damaging the camera. Can someone tell me where to find one? Is it a case of finding a parts camera and stripping that part?
