$19 per year? Only US probably. I see international subscribers pay $69 per year for 6 issues. I just ordered a single copy from their virtual newsstand, for $9.95 and free shipping.
 
Yes I think you're right, Remy. I think the international cheapo subscription offer was $39/year now I think about it... :(

Lenswork, is the only "mandatory" publication, in my opinion. It is by far, vastly superior to anything else out there. All B/W, no technical crap. Just the images, passion and vision behind them. And while you're at it, order Brooks book, "Letting Go Of The Camera." I assure you that you'll love it. They also publish the very good book, "On Being A Photographer".

Just recently, they had a ½ price subscription offer. I'll call Maureen on Monday, and see if that is still in effect.

They are agoing to regret being free, I have signed too.

I can "let go of the camera" anytime I want to. But I don't want to. I just also happen to enjoy the gear aspect of photography as well.
 
Hey I jumped on board too! I think they'll love the publicity. We are, after all, the target audience are we not?
 
Hopefully they ship to Germany... if I qualify. From this form of marketing it seems to be a bit of a lottery or (worst case) data mining.

I put my name and address without a problem. I'll hang around the mail box for the next 4-6 weeks for my first issue to show up.

BTW any one here subscribe to National Geographic? If yes, did your January issue show up later than normal?

Wow... sometimes miracles may happen. Today I got the May issue of the Rangefinder Magazine :) Not bad for signing up 4 months ago...

It sounds like Brooks wants me to let my camera casually drop to the floor. I tried to find some reviews and came across a poster at pnet, who was not impressed.

What are your opinions about these books, Russ?

Well worth the very small monetary payment for them. Also, "Art & Fear" the perils of artmaking" by Ted Orland & David Bayles, is a fantastic book. Very cheap and most bookstores will carry it. I highly recommend it.

I followed Russ' recomendation as for both Lenswork books and didn't regret at all, they make a very nice commuting reading and they discuss IMHO about some very interesting points.
 
Okay i have checked the Aperture, Lenswork and Rangefinder Magazine. I found, that the RF Magazine is to technical (to many technical prewiews and rewiews and less about photography such as Portfolios and so on). This magazines are exist in germany to thousands..

I search a magazine about photography with many portfolios and less technical... I only know this three magazines. I am glad to any new recommendation for magazines.
 
Hmm the French "Photo".. I like the french L´insense Photo. I have issue number 2 (the special about japanese photography)
