Rangefinder swapping?

Just a general question. I sent a message to DAG inquiring about switching rangefinder magnifications in my M6 Classic - looking to put a 0.85 as a replacement to the 0.72. DAG replied that Leica will only switch out same-for-same and doesn't provide other magnifications as replacement parts.

I have ABSOLUTELY NO reason to doubt DAG so this isn't questioning his response. (However,) does anyone know of other, maybe even unofficial, channels for obtaining the 0.85 tele or maybe even a 0.58 wide rangefinder for the M6 Classic cameras?

Have you considered just getting a Leica 1.25x magnifier?

Yeah - that works for the tele conversion but nothing for the wide... The question was more aimed at finding alternative sources for the rangefinder or to see if Solms is more flexible in certain circumstances.

My advise would be to do an even-up body swap (or terms as you see fit) with someone else willing/wanting to who has a .58 or .85--it would save the both of you a great deal of money.
