And then there was this moment. I was walking down one of the "hallways" that extended away from the barn/arena. On my left were stalls with cattle. On my right, a boarded fence. And down at the end of this hallway was a young lady sitting on a chair, her legs resting on the wood, backlit by a strong light. To capture this image, I needed to be quiet, to be unobtrusive, to work with available light. I needed a lens to capture the nuances of light and film to record the wide luminosity range. This was a moment made for a Leica, my 35mm Summicron, and film.

Mark,

Went to a fair last weekend, and may visit another this weekend. It's the season, eh?

I liked the "porkers" and "lamb lines" images, as well as "pig roundup" - tough with the bright light coming in the far door! The "funnel cakes" image was very nice, especially the texture in the sky - made me take a fresh look at how an everyday scene could look when captured well.

You certainly chose a great image to include in the thread with "waiting in the stall". The thumbnail is terrific, as is the larger image in the blog post. Nice pump for the rangefinder there!

There's a Fest this Saturday I'm gonna catch. Taking the M3, Nikon F5, and D700 for back-up.

...or maybe I'll just take the F5 and F3P, and keep the M3 in the bag for back-up.

hmmmmm.....

Anyway, I hope to catch some good shots, there should be plenty of drunken Germans having fun.

October Fest? My daughter's fiance goes there every couple of years, and this is his year.
