Hi Chaps,

Just purchased an M6 Classic today (my first Leica, and first Rangefinder).

Just looking at the camera now im back home, and wanted to ask a question regarding the Rangefinder window on the front of the camera.

It appears the inner square window is slightly off centre, is this normal? (excuse my ignorance) ive taken a rather blurry shot:

If not I guess it will be going back. I havent taken any shots with yet, but am looking forward to...

Cheers for any help,

Sam

I looked at you photo and I looked at my M6. It appears that mine is slightly off center but I tend not to put my eye that close to that window. Rather, I look through the rear of the camera. How does it look when you look through the viewfinder? If it appears normal run some film through it.

Thanks for the reply, things appear ok from the viewfinder (I think) I can align the two images successfully.

As I say im new to Rangefinder - just wanted to check all was normal with the camera - ill run some film through it - but would appreciate any other comments to confirm.

Cheers!

That is one thing. Second is that pictures are focused too - just where you focus and that you can see by taking pictures and develop film. If not, mistake can be in body or in lens.

You better test both close and infinite distances. 😉

It doesn't look perfectly centered in my M3, my elderly button rewind M2, or relatively recent (ha ha) M2-R either, and each seems a tad different from the others. Just use the thing!
