I've only been back lurking on the boards for a week or two and I've developed some funny gas pangs. Been thinking about how nice a 90/2 might be to try to figure out, saw that nifty zeiss 35/2.8 and thought it would be a lot of fun for shooting outdoors. That and a collapsable 50, something real clean.

Before all this I was really content with what I had, hah! Go figure.
 
I agree. There should be a warning under the top banner.
Or maybe I should just the responsible thing and tell my wife everything 😀

Yes, I have to stop hanging around here too. So far I've picked up a Super Ikonta C, a Leica IIIG, an M-bag, and a CV 35mm finder. I almost wanted to inquire about a nice looking M7 in the classifieds here. I had to lash myself to the mast until the sirens had passed (literary reference to Homer's Odyssey).
 
The only way I was able to put a lid on the GAS thing, sorta, was making a decision to shoot 6x6 for a year. Most of the MF cameras that I shoot are fixed lens, so that in itself kept me from lens buying, testing, selling, etc. Now I've decided that the 6x6 is fine, but I would prefer a light walk around camera for times when I don't want to lug around a TLR, so I bought a Leitz CL. Good lord, now I'm looking at this lens and that lens, somehow bought an M3 w/ a lens w/ the idea of trying it on the CL, and on and on. 35mm GAS seems to be the worst because you can try so many different combinations of cameras and lenses.
 
ummm, yeah. RFF has caused me more GAS than I care to admit.

On the positive side, it has motivated me to clear out some items that have lost their appeal to me.

On the negative side, well, I'm not at break even. I need to sell about $3K more items.

Ha. I've been happy with my equipment for >20 years also, but after hanging around the various internet forums I am happier than ever with my existing equipment. Sure, I've bought some additional gear to meet needs, but the forums ahve never incentivized me to buy... other than occasionally finding what I want for sale by antoher forum member.
 
When I first became interested in photography, I had thought that my Pentax K1000 with 50mm was all the camera gear I would ever need. HAH!
 
For a very brief moment last week I got a strange urge 'What the hell! I will sell all my stuff and get an M6 with a Zeiss 35/2.8 to see what all the fuss is about!'

Happily, it went away! Enthusiasm is contagious but it usually wanes. Note 'usually'!
 
Reading any of the equipment-oriented threads is just a recipe for GAS. Put a decent lens in the hands of a good photographer - and boom, everyone wants that lens.

I tried to stay away from RFF for that exact reason, but you gotta be extra careful because when you do come back, the suppressed GAS gets totally out of control. BIG time.

I got a similar attack last month and I succumbed to it.......🙁 now I've gone back to almost fully analog.......
 
Buying new things keeps the game fresh.
My father wants to buy a new fish finder for the boat... the one we have works fine, it finds fish. His reason is just "because it can do this... and that... etc." Who needs a fish finder that you can play sudoku on?!

I have not succumbed to this one yet but, those of you who do buy Iphones. Why does everyone who has one feel compelled to upgrade every time a new version comes out? So what if it is 0.1ms faster. That's $1k you spent to upgrade that is not getting put towards the Ferrari.
