The mercury is going to reach 43 degrees Celsius here in Melbourne today - that's 109.4 Farrenheit... 😱

I'm too busy trying to keep our 14 week old boy comfortable to go after a worthy "street" shot for the comp...

And many of you in the northern hemisphere are wearing gloves to keep your fingers from freezing to the shutter button...

So - what's the most extreme tempertaures or conditions you've ever taken a rangefinder out in?

and any pics for the gallery?

43 degrees Celsius..., I recall those 3 straight days of 43C in Winnipeg, but it was so dry that any sweat was instantly evaporated. I thought I'd cool down by taking a spin on the highway with my BMW motor bike. The faster I went, the hotter I got. At least it cooled down to 37C at night.

To stay on topic, today my new R3A got a little drizzle on it. 🙂

i have shot in snow storms in minus 40 c temps.

some shots in my 'whyte ave' album.

it was so cold that even with winter coat and gloves i had to run into stores to warm up as i could only walk maybe 2 or 3 blocks before going stiff.

I've got some SLR shots (OM10) taken in January '80 on a trip across the Nullabor Plain, when the mercury hit 48 degrees C. We were travelling in an old Commer van, flat out at 80kmph (50mph) and no air-conditioning.

Well, nothing like -40C, but I have taken out my MP and my dad's M6 out snowshoeing in Vermont on a particularly crisp January day. It was sunny, but -5 F (-20C). I was out for two and a half hours with the cameras around my neck (exposed completely to the cold), and they both worked completely fine....even the meters worked! You just have to make sure you wind carefully and rewind VERY carefully, as the temperature makes the film very brittle. I don't have a shot from that day to show, but this was from a day or two later...warmer because it was cloudy.

Around 10 or 15 degrees Fahrenheit in rural(not really rural, but not urban either) suburban, maybe, France (out by Versailles) during a heavy, windy snowfall with very small flakes and strong STRONG winds. RF645 held out very well. Some of my best shots were taken on that day. Thanks to a tripod and perseverance.

I had my PM and Xpan at 104 F in the east side of the Cascades during a hike. It was very hot but the camera had no problems. Me on the otherhand was dehydrated.

Wow - some pretty high and low temps so far..and some brave and hardy photogs too.

At least with a Rangefinder (well most of them) we don't have to worry about the LCD screens blacking over in the heat...!

Mid 40s this time last year in Australia - Tamworth, the home of country music. Also similar temperatures in Egypt 15 years ago - I'm scanning the slides at the moment.

Vermont sure is beautiful, though I prefer exploring it in Autumn and one my silver R75/5 BMW. I did once and I had my Vitomatic 11 and lots of Kodachrome along for the ride.
