Am I going crazy or do rangefinders sometimes just randomly go out of alignment? I'm rather frustrated as today I discover that my XA's rangefinder has gone completely out of vertical alignment while sitting on my bookshelf, since the last time I used it about 2 weeks ago. I bought it to replace one with a fungussed lens and broken meter needle, and the replacement's RF was literally perfect (clear and high-contrast), when I got it like 2 months ago, and the only use it's really seen has been sitting in my breast pocket in my motorcycle jacket when I ride, which would suitably damp it from any vibes.

My IIIc had a CLA from Youxin last year, and has been used semi-regularly throughout, and a few days ago when I was fondling it, I checked, and the vertical alignment is just a tiny bit off (just at the noticable threshold).

The IIIc can be readjusted, which is annoying but far from terminal. I don't know if the XA can be adjusted. :bang:

Neither have seen much use lately, and certainly neither have been subjected to any hard knocks or being dropped or anything. It's not like I have kids that sneak in my room and play with my stuff, so I can rule an accidental drop out as well. The only thing I can think of that could potentially be the culprit is temperature changes (I left my window open a few days ago when it got pretty cold at night), but under normal winter usage, cameras see twice that temperature change every time you bring them outside. The Canon P and M4-P that sit right next to them are both still in good shape.

Anyone have any thoughts, or do I just have gremlins bent on wreaking havoc with my cameras...?
