Surely I'm not the only person who's made up frame finders from some old chicken wire?

Just unwind the mesh, straighten it and then bend it to the right shape. If you're really talented, I'm not, you can make both the front and rear frames in one piece. It isn't pretty but it can be made to work surprisingly well.

I've no idea how you'd go about making a zoom version. Perhaps rubber bands would be involved?

I see all the different opinions and understand the different approach for different situations. That's why I'm very happy with my latest acquisition: OVF, EVF, LCD all inclusive.
