Rapidwinder II on an M6 TTL?

i just bought a rapidwinder II on the auction site and it doesn't seem to want to fit my m6ttl. the description said it fit the ttl model, but i couldn't find any specific info about the RW II on tom's site.
when i put it on the bottom of the camera, it fits fine but the locking mechanism only turns about 1/4" and won't go any further. is there anything i need to modify for this to fit?
