I've got my Rapidwinder from Tom one week ago. Just like most people mentioned before, it's really a kinda handmade artwork. Although I am a right-eye-shooter, still it gives me lots of fun.

I´m curious, really worth 600$ or a bit steep? I was thinking about buying one but with customs and shipping it will be close to 800$ here.

It definately is the better choice if you're considering the orig. Leicavit vs the Rapidwinder. Tom's piece is better and cheaper. I love mine.
Having two of each (don't ask!) I prefer the Leicavit. Lighter, has a crisp bottom lock, will work with an Arca-Swiss QR plate. The only disadvantage of the Leicavit is that it doesn't work with the Rapidgrip, which I also use.

I also really like the Rapidwinder. I've been using it on my current trip and have really gotten the hang of rapid fire shooting with it! As a left eye shooter I'll never go back, now I just need to get another one for my other camera...

more fun if you have it with Rapidgrip

I inquired about getting a Rapidgrip for my M2 Rapidwinder, TomA -did- make some up in the past. But I was told, it was no longer available, as there were some problems with the combo? So I have given up on that idea. I saw the two items together, when I saw his pictures of Havana on Flikr.
