I took this one of a World War I Curtiss Canuck and converted it to make it look more period.

Nikon D40+ Nikkor 45/2.8 P at ISO 1600 - I find only the high ISO digi B&W shots don't look like crap, because they mimic very well a pushed film.

I agree. I usually shoot my digital at 1600 or 3200 to get as close as I can to film grain. Sometimes I even ad more noise.
This one looks really good.

Epson R-D1 processed from RAW in EpsonRAW. I can't remember which lens I used, it might have been the Canon 50mm f1.4.
