I really enjoyed the gallery featuring his photos. What he captured reminds me of my home turf when we still had all of our old farm buildings and the farms had livestock. Great work. Thanks for the heads up on the reissue, corot.

Great! He's an amazing photographer... One of the best ones to me, and the best one I've seen for the first time in recent years...

I have this book and love it. For those who are unfamiliar with Ravilious, here again is the link to the wonderful BBC documentary done on him.

And here is a link to the Beaford Archive. (Where much of his work is found.)

I ordered a copy too and have it open on the desk now. A very evocative collection of pictures. As a child I holidayed on a farm in Devon and there are lots of things that came back from memories of 35 years ago.
And I almost forgot to note, the quality of photography is very good indeed ! Contre-jour is going to be something I will try more often for example.

A very evocative set of work, of an area I know very well.
It all changed from 1987 when the link road to the motorway was built, it no longer took 2 hours along a cart track to get to North Devon, that was the real catalyst that brought the image of Ravillious' North Devon to a close if you ask me.
I bought my copy a while back, one of the greats, one I admire greatly.
