Sorry if this has been settled already, but I cannot find it. I'd like to download a full X3F raw file to run through SPP 5.4. Basically I want to see if I will be needing a new computer to actually use a DP2m. That will factor into how much money I need to set aside, etc.

So if anyone knows where I can download a file, much appreciated.

Sometimes all u need is more memory. If your computer is under 2 gb then memor will help in a lot of things in general.

I'm at 8 gbs. I've processed 400mb Imacon scan files in Photoshop, and it's ok but slow at times. All in all, just want to do a test drive to see what happens with curves and ACR on tiffs and such with a full file after conversion. And see how the converter itself works.

Great, thanks Gary.

The RAW files at the link you provide are 12-13 mb. I assume that this is the 'low' RAW setting size? Anyway, the Sigma processing program has echoes of Silky Pix- maybe built around it? Been a few years since I used Silky Pix. No biggie as it appears the best course is to make a tiff and move to a better program for final adjustments.

Well, if anyone finds a 55mb X3F raw file available for download, I'd appreciate a link. Thanks.

Photoshop tends to be a much bigger memory hog then any other phot editing program out the especially when u have a lot of layers... I don't think u will have any problem with it.

In spp I tend to just use it as a tiff converter. I set preference to x3f camera. Check the lens profile option and kick off the save as tiff16 operation. Everything else goes thru aperture for post processing..

Sounds like low quality to me as well.

Finally found a full-sized RAW file for testing SPP. THis is form the DP1 Merrill, but it is an X3F and the full 45 mb plus. So it was helpful to show me how fast SPP would do screen redraws after making changes, etc. Saving a 16-bit TIFF took about 14 seconds. Well, if you go to the end of the actual review section, just below the close up of the pink blistering pipe, he provides a link to a RAW file at the end of the small section of text:
