Understood when using the RAW + JPG setting, I could set the JPG too B&W. When there wasn't support for RAW, I shot in both settings to allow me to use my photograph but once RAW was supported, I went back to RAW only. I tries the RAW + JPG monochrome to see if I could have both but when imported into Lightroom 4, the b&w JPG was missing! What am I doing wrong?

Something to do with lightroom 4 and its import settings. You have to go into preferences and specify that it imports both a jpeg and raw duplicate.
