I did not get the Raw Software CD's when I bought my RD-1 - in trying to download them from the Epson website they come in as aspx. files and I cannot open them. Is this lack on knowledge on my part, am I doing something wrong or am I having a senior moment and missing the obvious?
Any help appreciated,
TIA
Ian

Fantastic - thank you for the link - now installed. I had been on Epson.co.uk - doesn't always pay to "shop" locally, I guess. I'll let you know how I get on.

It certainly can be the place to start - BUT - I see that the software is available from Rich Cutler's resource site so that better become home from now on.
Thanks Rich!!

Hiya,

Glad you got the ASP/aspx thing sorted... yes, Lightroom is nice, but expects P/CS for image tweaks, so the small "investment" ties you another app, and more cost.

OK, so that's a given--you already have Adobe P/CS--then, you might also have a look at LightZone and Bibble too. Although a JAVA-based app, LightZone has one of the more interesting(and photog intuitive) setups, especially if you've got some wet lab experience.

Picasa is my preferred program. Even supports many raw formats. Simple, intuitive, almost always gets it right with default, single-click settings. They even offered to support R-D1 raw files, if I would send them a few. Haven't had a chance to yet. Silly me!

I have converted R-D1 raw images using Epson PhotoRAW, Adobe Camera Raw CS3, Bibble, Capture One 3.7 LE and Capture One 4 Beta. For me, the best results with the least amount of intervention has been Capture One 4 Beta. You can download and give it a try for free.

I would try several raw converters and decide for yourself the one that best matches your needs and personal tastes.
