Rd-1 new for sale??

Epson has an R-D1 listed right now (10 minutes ago) on their sale flyer...priced at $2,999 which doesn't strike me as a refurb tag. It's on the Epson Store e-mail handout.

It says out of stock.

Photo Village has a used (and adjusted) one. I have been looking too, but not ready to pull the trigger yet.

Sorry...I saw only the price and stopped there, not checking the availability since 3K is out of my league ;)

I don't know if they still have any in stock, but Robert White has the RD1 listed on their web site (LINK). Around 2500 US$ before shipping. I bought mine from them a little over a year ago, and was very pleased.

The refurbs appear on the Epson site from time to time. $1400 after the coupon with a 1 year warranty ain't bad at all.

They certainly didn't sell them all. What I really think happened is they slit thier own throat offering $1500 "refurbs" at the store when selling to dealers for the $2500 price.
Too bad... as far as nay sayers about price... there will always be those that think a Maserati or Bently is overpriced. (not Leica folks I didn't say it was a Ferarri!!).. they are over-something-- but they fill a particualr need for some folks.

I just noticed you can't get one new any longer. When did that happen?

Robert White does indeed still have - also a demo R-D1 [look in 2nd hand].

Used RD-1

Used RD-1

I will be posting my used RD-1 in the Classifieds section in a few days. It's in excellent shape.

Didn't sell...

Didn't sell...

Well I tried to sell my "new" from Epson RD-1 with 21mm VC and 28mm finder last week. Didn't sell with opening bid of $2150 NR with 2 batts, box, lens, finders. I have an assignment to photography the Dali Lama tomorrow so I will get it out and start using it.

I do agree with the other posters that the RD-1 has a special look to the images, although I am still an SLR guy. Or 4x5 or 5x12" yes inch! guy.... hell I'll shoot with an Oatmeal box and ****ty old pinhole made from a rusted Chevy quarter pannel.

For sale again..# 290176380691

For sale again..# 290176380691

Ebay item # 290176380691

I'm selling again this time without the lens and finder.

I want a 85 f1.4 for my F3... that will be my stealty rig.

Have a Canon P I like.... just can't use the RD-1 with "long-ish" lenses like a 90... the finder needs marking for lenses beyond 50mm IMO.

I've seen RD-1's go for around $1500 body only at local camera shows here in Los Angeles. Maybe I should've snagged it when I saw it.

How was it dealing with them and the exchange rate? I live in california and have
come accross there website now and then.

Just in Japan you can find a new one, recently, I have found something very curios in some Camera shops in Japan that make me think that Epson still producing some number of R-D1s.

Have you tried using an external finder?

/T

I tried a Cron 75 - works wonderful. 90mm works too, but is tricky to handle and will be out of focus most of the time. As with M8 as well.

I wonder why this camera won't be further produced by someone else ... :(
