Sorry for bringing up again this subject, but I need some information about the sending process at Epson France. My RD-1 spent a day with me at the sea and together we got caught by a big wave 🙁 I instantly removed the battery and dried the camera, but the next the shutter didn't work anymore. It was just a bit of water entering, but of course the salt entered too.
We tried to reach the Epson Engineering S.A. service number indicated by Rich Cutler, which was first impossible with our VOIP telephone. When I used the "normal" phone, I was able to dial the number.
Of course nobody knew anything about the RD-1, but after 30 minutes I finally received the "numéro de retour", so I'm allowed to send the camera for repair. A big problem was, that I don't have an address in France.
But also the serial number! They said, they have to type in 10-digit serial number to open a process. All my explanations were in vain, at the end he invented a number 😱
Did somebody have the same problem? I'm still thinking if I should send the camera to France...
How can I make sure that a specialist will check the camera?
