"Thinking maybe to go mwooten's route, a 28 and 40... but then, a 28 is too close to the 25, which I will one day get! haha..."
If you've got the 40, why not get the CV 15 now and wait for that Zeiss 25 next year? That's give you 60mme and 22mme, which are almost exactly the same as the extreme ends of the LX3/Dlux4's zoom.
Then you'd only have to think "do I want the long one or the wide one?" (Which would also give you a reality check for yourself about the focal lengths of your hypothetical future LX3.)
40 + 15 make a defensible two lens kit and you could use the trip to see how often you actually wished you could go much longer (or in between.)
It'd be only the 15 to learn to use and appreciate (if you're already sensitized to the 40.)
OR, OTOH, you could go with Back Alley and all those One Lens Solutions, sell the 40, buy just the Zeiss 28 (or 25, if you'd rather) and enjoy the freedom of greater spontaneity and less dust on your sensor from changing lenses!
Good Light and Good Luck whatever you decide
We're looking forward to your pictures and stories.
All the best,
