Just received my RD1 - which is fantastic - and am looking at some spare batteries. On ebay, the prices vary between US$3 and US$75! Does any one know if the cheap ones are OK, or to be avoided? Many thanks.

Umm - yes, this is a can of worms, but mainly because there are some really cr*p batteries out there.
I've got 2 Epsons, and 3 clones, which have the logo NP80 and the capacity, but no maker's name. They cost around US$15 each, here in the UK.
I've never experienced a problem, but would estimate they have only 75% of the capacity of the epson batts.

I used two I got from Adorama till today when I shipped my sold R-D1 off. They worked great - no problems, I think they were about $15....
