RD1 camera bag ?

I'm looing for a bag for my RD1 that will hold the body and 3 lenses (one lens could be mounted), any suggestions?

domke f5xb, but you might need an extra velcro divider for 3 lens. I keep a 40/2 mounted on mine, but if it's just the RD1, I might just wrap it in a zippered Sumdex video camera bag, which is slightly smaller than a toiletries bag, but with a little padding. No lens cap, but the heavystar "wide" hood on the lens.

billingham hadley pro. i use it for my m4-p and 30d and it works very well. i think it has a lifetime warrenty also. kind of spendy but it will for sure work.

I use CCS Tudor it holds my RD-1 with 40mm Cron attatched 50 2.8 Elmar and VC28mm 3.5 plus cards batteries etc.For more lenses and my M2 I use a Billingham Alice but I prefer small and my CCS bag is in fact the one Voigtlander supplied with the Bessa R +35+75 outfit when it was introduced.

Lowepro Topload Zoom 1. Swallows my R-D1 with a mounted lens (fattest I'm carrying at the time - normally the 40mm Nokton), finders in the filter pocket, 3 lenses (12, 21, 75) in the front pocket. Strap long enough to wear across your body. It will just about take the R-D1 with a finder attached.
Very compact, downside is that you don't have any padding, but this isn't really an issue if you're wearing it slung across your body...

I ended up buying a Lowepro EX 160, same style as the Zoom 1 but smaller. Looks like it will take the camera with lens mounted + 2 lenses. I'll post some pics when it comes in so you can see it loaded. BTW these can be had on ebay for $15.00.

However this all for transport, wouldn't dream of actually working from it!

Usually work from Billingham vest or a Billngham stowaway bag with lenses cards/film etc in [this little bag will hold all the non mounted lenses/finders for the RD-1 kit, the vivitar 2500 +cords, spare cards and batteries, great for "walking around with"]

IMHO you need a bag for "carrying" and a bag [or vest or belt pouch works if you aren' fat like me] for working from.

After a whole bunch of expensive, more expensive and plain exorbitant expenditures over the last 30 years, these experiences should be shared:

- There is always more than your camera gear that needs space.
- Things are heavier than you think.
- Shoulderbags ruin your back, believe me!
- Thieves are better photobag experts than most photographers.
- If you buy your cameras to resell, don't remove the shrinkwrap.

So, for just walking around to take pictures, an anonymous, black banana, worn on the hip will hold 2 lenses, a couple of viewfinders, a blow-bulb for sensor dust and your GPS. For travelling and expeditions a medium size (25-35L) backpack will hold R-D1, 5 lenses with stuff, maps, sunblock, GPS and cellphone i side pockets and an assortment of other junk without breaking your back. And there will be room for a 12" laptop if needs be. The key to it all? Bubblewrap - a loose sheet of the heavy kind for general padding in the backpack and bags of assorted sizes for the lenses and viewfinders - all oversized for easy loading.

And if you insist on spending the equivalent of a good lens just to tempt those of the sticky fingers, at least load it with stones and tow it after your car for a while, rip off the markings and then put it in with the laundry before use.

Btw my Billingham Hadley original fits one RDs, one ZI, 6 lenses, finders, film film film and the iPod.😀

I really like mine so far (Lima) - it stashes about anywhere and can double for a small briefcase. The interior is fairly bright orange and easy to see into and comes with a couple of compartments. It seems well made - but I do like the feel of canvas (I carry a frayed Billingham 335 to work every day) over the Cordura.

The only real gripes are the silly compass stitched on the strap and the big logo (both will be easy to remove). My local shop really had them cheap, but only in black...

Will do. After looking at all the nice, but pricey bags (hey, you could get a lens for what these bags cost) I am looking forward to seeing what this little wannabe gem is really like. I will dutifully report back.

Thanks "gdi" & Ira. I really like my domke 803, but $50 ain't bad. I tend to like bags that don't look too pricey or too posh. I may go down to the local army surplus store and see what kind of satchels they have.

Here are some photos of the Lowepro Ex 160 with my R-D1. This bag turned out to be perfect for my needs. It easily holds two lenses + one mounted, I could actually get in two small wide angles, my 90 Elmar-C + one mounted if needed. The front compartment holds the charger, extra batteries, etc. Bag is well padded, not very big and comes with a wide shoulder strap, great deal new for $15 on ebay.

I use a cheap Case Logic bag (walmart $15). It takes the RD-1 mounted with a 28mm Hexanon + 4 more lenses + 2 side pockets for lense tissue, caps etc.
