you're back!
you're back!
Hope the trip was a good one......Paris with an R D1 could never be bad! Nice sweeping view there in the Palais.
I found the 21 to be the lens to not leave home without in Paris. I am always reminded when packing for Europe that one time, I left my M2 parked in the closet and took a P&S with a zoom along. I regretted that decision and noted only making one or two exposures that were zoomed at all the entire three weeks. This recent trip my 'long lens" was 40 1.4 and only used that a couple of times. Of course if I had only taken the 40 along it would get lots of use
i look forward to seeing more of your pics Tom.

Nice Taj...I ALSO returned from Paris last week. I took just a ricoh GRD but forgot my batt charger. Luckily it uses AAA's but I should have taken my Epson and a CV 21 I have. I just didn't know what to expect since it was my first time there. AND I was worried about battery consumption with the rd 1. I have 2 or 3 batt's for it but I knew I'd be recharging. Loved your Notre Dame shot...i was there! Wife and I had a great meal right across the street after Christmas Eve Mass: Les Tours de Notre Dame...hope you had a good visit...

Coincidentally I was also in Paris with my R-D1, last April I mostly used my Canon 35 2.8 lens and Canon sonnar 50mm with the Epson. I did have my CV 40mm as well. Tajart, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your photographs. My Paris ones are at:

thanks for looking and the comments. paris has such a rich tradition of photography... i try not to take the usual tourist shots, but this time i was seduced by the blue lights of the tour eiffel and notre dame...
battery life was "just okay" and was kind of a nuisance having to change, removing the luigi case. eventually i just left it out of the case and was reminded of how much i like the ergonomics, sans case. i was shooting in raw mode with jpeg set as monochrome, used my elmarit 21 for about 99% of my shooting, and supplemented by my iphone cam.
what a great city to walk and shoot, day and night...
