RD1 price in Tokyo

I've noticed the RD1 price is dropping and with a trip to Tokyo in two weeks the little voices are debating hotly. Anybody have Japan buying experience?

It's my first time to Japan and I don't speak the lingo.
Managed to locate a store with what I think is a list price of 189,800 Yen (about US$1,620).

It's way down the bottom of this price list (try to pass the other goodies).

I like Map Camera, but they are a little hard to find - it's in Shinjuku a few blocks from the large Yodobashi camera.

even a tad cheaper in price, too

I bought my 1st R-D1 from Map Camera about 14 months ago... they were good.

The camera & manual will be in Japanese languge mode, but it is relatively simple to follow the manual to change the language to English.

Thanks guys, this is great info. I'm prepared to be overwhelmed at some of these stores.

The debate in my head is about:
- the price of the Digital M - IF released at the end of this year.
- the price of an RD1s - whenever that's released.

Both will probably be away from my budget range. At the US$1,600 range I'd jump at the RD1.

Based on the information I'm getting right now, an R-d1 with the new firmware will effectively be an R-D1s.

Cheers,

Can't get the mapcamera's website to work properly in the english inquiry. Can someone provide an email to thtem?

Good luck!

Good luck!

After you got their email, good luck getting them to reply. I haven't been successful. Maybe I should change my name from Anglo to Japanese?

Been watching discussion about enhancements in the RD1s. Seems strange to release a new model with no hardware changes. There must be some difference, even if it's the processor or other chips.

The Map Camera shop is about 10,000 Yen cheaper than the first shop I found - and it's close to our hotel. Definitely grabbing one if they have stock.I've already downloaded the English users manual from the UK site.

Here's a page listing heaps of Japan camera shops. I guess my way around to the product pages. What fun.
