RD1S grip/wriststrap

I find my RD1S doesn't feel terribly secure in my hand and this is stopping me from using it as much as I might.

I currently have a Gordy strap, which is lovely, but my big fat hand only just fits through it, and it's quite rigid. I think it's probably the wrong strap for me on this camera. I was contemplating getting a more basic cloth strap, or perhaps investigating a grip.

Is there a suitable grip for the RD1S? Any thoughts are welcomed.

Get a Luigi leather strap...I have a few and my favorite is the braided in tan...

very easy to wrap around the wrist and the sholder pad actually slides to a very comfortable position.....about $60.00 USD on ebay....don

I have the m-equip grip and an oem case. I perfer the grip so i dont use the half case, but the case does add bulk and handling across the body. my case is brand new in the box and I casualy have it for sale. 😉

my fav is a grip and a wrist strap together.

long neck strap in the winter so i don't have to hold the camera all the time.

I have a Leicagoodies Sling which I've modified to make more usable on the R-D1, and love it. This is something you could make yourself for very little, and if I get a chance I'll shoot and post some pics. Absolutely terrific!

After some thought, the only one of these options that really appeals is the Leicatime case with grip which looks lovely and might solve the problem. To be honest, I'm right on the edge of jacking the RD1S in because of this. Not sure whether to throw more money at it, or to step off.

A cash buyer in London looking for an RD1S and a face-to-face meetup would probably tip me over the edge.

After my last post, I pushed myself to really go out and use the RD1S, and remembered all the things I love about it. It was enough to spur me into ordering a Luigi case and strap, which arrived yesterday.

The case is incredible and my initial impression is that it solves the whole problem I had with the RD1S. Strangely, I don't like it with the wrist strap (although I like the wrist strap itself). I find that the strap ends up curled up between my hand and the body when I want to take a shot, so I've removed the strap and put it on my R2a instead (which has a different lug position that works better with this strap).

Thanks all for your input. It seems like a lot of money to pay for a grip, but on the other hand if it solves my problem it's well worth it.
