however is does support the files of my upgraded Rd1.
the files seems the same and my old epson rw converter handles both without trouble.

any ideers

thanks,

When you say "doesn't open," do you mean that ACR doesn't show them as eligible files? Or that it does, but you get an error message when you try to open them? Or that ACR doesn't launch when you double-click on a file?

This sounds more like an Adobe problem - there have been some recent reports of erratic launch behavior. But maybe we can at least cross-check it with the other R-D 1s owners on RFF (I'm not one of them, sorry) to help narrow down where the problem might be.

It would be helpful to know what computer operating system, Photoshop version, and ACR plug-in version you're using, so other users can tell whether theirs is the same or different.

rd1s and ACR

rd1s and ACR

the Rd1s isn't recognized as a file that can be handled, i found out that the files work in Lightroom for windows with is in its beta stage and can be free downloaded.

I wrote a simple application to convert RD1s raw files into RD1 raw files. PM me your email if you want to try it. On your head be it. One other person is using my program successfully though.

What in the files requires conversion? We had been through this with Adobe when the firmware update came out, and I thought they were supposed to have fixed it.

Just guessing, but its probably just a hack to the camera identity stored in the file - I've certainly seen that done in Adobe to make it recognise Nikon RAW files from new cameras before an update was released...

I don't personally use Adobe software for RAW conversion so I can't guarantee it's going to work, but Capture One gets thrown by the "RD1s" text contained in the raw file. My program replaces that text with "RD1<null>", just as Terao implied. That's all. Capture One then works fine with the file.

Eddy -
I had just received my new RD1s from the nice folks at Robert White Friday morning. As I was waiting for the battery to charge, I noticed your post about the Adobe apps not opening the RD1s' raw files. This gave me a bit of panic.

I'm running two Macs (a G4 powerbook - os 10.4.9 & a G4 tower -os 10.3.9). While waiting for the battery to charge, I down loaded the latest version of the Camera Raw plugin and the Adobe DNG Converter, (The Mac version of both the Camera Raw plugin and DNG Converter is 3.4 (89) and has the created date of 28 April 2006. I installed this onto my powerbook, and all things were sweet as it recognized the RD1s files.

When I tried to open the raw files on my G4 tower on Saturday, the Bridge app and Photoshop CS2 would not recognize them, and reported a parsing error. I then quit both apps and downloaded the above mentioned files. My desktop machine now opens the RD1s raw files as it should.

I hope this info helps you.

Take care,
Michael

Are you sure you have downloaded the latest version of Adobe Camera raw plugin ? CS2 wouldn't recognize RD1s files until I updated it. Now it works fine (CS2 and Lightroom on Windows XP pro).
