At least the "administrators" or whatever they are called could give some feedback as why certain threads are closed, and not just block them off in the middle of adding a post.

And if blocking of threads for the sake of the community is a big issue why not start with blocking these numerous polls ...

Some form of critique should be allowed at least.... after all it is called a FORUM, maybe the Administrators should look up the exact meaning of the word, and then they can decide to rename the RFF into whatever they want, just to make things clear to users like me that is .....

And another one doesn't live by the rules. The thread you're talking about is, I reckon, Sean's thread, where he got bashed for posting information which (as it turned out) was a bit old. The "humor" in that thread was NOT funny, and the bashing was uncalled for. Reason enough IMO for the moderators to jump in and close that vat of stink.

I absolutely agree with you, but others might have a different view and want to express this.

And "bashing" is a description chosen wrongly .... there was no Bashing what so ever.... perhaps some humorous remarks which might of not been comprehend able by some, or they might just lack s sense of humor all together

It is their forum and so they have the right to do as they please. There are other forums available if one doesnt like it here.

English is a complex language. I understand Americans adopted it for their own purposes. For this reasons I can fully understand the mod's cutting a few threads at the throat since most of us can't say we see the words in the correct context. If England and America alter the same language for their dialects and have different slang, I can't see how a worldwide community can understand the same humour.

I fully agree with you ash, but this is not the point. By cutting of some thread implies one doesn't even want to understand the other parties frustration/humor .. whatever.

Starting to call people "Pricks, pratts" or equivalent ... this is not done, I can see that, but just a little irony should be tolerated "world-wide"

especially this being a self proclaimed World-Wide Forum ...

And then if your in for the "big money" you should be able to stand the changes, at least be aware/prepared of them.....

If anyone on this forum called me a 'prick', 'prat' or 'dipsh*t' they'd have a horsehead on their pillow tomorrow. It's one thing saying it to someone's face with a smile, but on a forum where words cannot be accompanied by body language, tone, etc, when speaking to strangers (no matter how long we have known each other by their ID on the forum) anything other than the language you use in front of the grandparents on your best behaviour shouldn't be used

Well people have made careers from joking around. Look at the 'controversial' humour from previous decades that is now considered tame (or racially unacceptible and frowned upon). It's all about current circumstance.

I won't take anything people say on here to-heart. But I think when someone posts a thread that is old news, because they don't keep track everyday it's not fair to poke fun. Well... poke too deep lets say.

Take Billy Conolly for instance.... has a razor sharp humor, his wording is not always correct (according to some) but he should be permitted .... (as some would disagree)

You obviously never met mine, Ash!

Apart from anything else, I think it's wise to remember that humour is a psychological safety valve. Nothing will buld up tension and ill-feeling - or sap the life from a community - like the pretence that all is well and every view is peerlessly right.
