What "supposedly" means in practice is that the people who do the bulk of the thinking about it are not engineers at Fuji, but random people on the Internet.

I can see it having some merit. The X100 is an obviouis hit for Fuji... unless there is a MASSIVE recall that buries the company.

Yeah, Minolta released it about 40 years ago. Plenty on the secondhand market.
