Ready for a compact RF

I think I have set my mind on a nice Canonet G-III QL17. It has interesting features, is supposed to be very well build and there are plenty of these guys (those mostly in US). I have already ordered a few Wein cells which should fit. And should I really like the camera (well, have to buy to buy it first ;) ) than it will get a new skin from Cameraleather. I just can not resist once I have seen THIS

So - anybody to talk me out of this decision? :)

Nope - its one of the most balanced compromises. I started with it and then looked for something significantly better for me. I found compacts which were better in particular ways but nothing an order of magnitude better.

Just know you'll probably buy another at some point to try it out. That is there the downward spiral starts if you're not careful. ;)

No need to worry, I need just ONE.

But seriously - If it will fit my needs - it will stay. If not I will look elsewhere. I do not keep cameras I do not use (or the other way round - I try to keep using the cameras I have to justify their possession) :)

XA - very compact, not the sharpest lens.
SP - nice camera, not all that compact.
RC - compact, sharp lens, robust, not the best out of focus rendering, but i miss it.

So - in the end it will be a Konica S3. Few nice Canonets slipped between my fingers, but than a mint S3 appeared and I pulled the trigger. Should have it in a few days. Will let you know how it works for me. But as it is all black I will probably skip the idea of changing the leatherette.

I will keep you updated whether we get along ;)

And here she is ...

Together with nice gordy's leather wrist strap. I will post some results once I will get them scanned with some decent quality.

and one more ...

..

Superb choice. If I weren't so hung up on aperture priority a few years ago, I would have sprung for one of these instead of a Yashica GX. It's nice to know exactly what shutter speed you're at.

Nice, black camera, with black n' red stripe and red "S", sexy!

I should get that kind of strap for my black Minolta 7sII too! :)

It's a pretty camera, I'm amazed I haven't got one in my collection. I have a black C35 FD, which looks more or less similar, but without the red S on it... I'll have to keep my eyes open.

I have none but I read C35 FD is domestic version of Auto S3 sold outside of Japan. What you really miss is just red "S" letter.
