A real Leica is either painted or chromed, I will not get into that debate!
However, If a real chrome M9 were offered at the same price would you buy? I would for sure (I love the M3 like quality of this, just like I love my Real Chrome M6. I have a black chrome M8, and have yet to buy the M9 - perhaps when I buy chrome will be an option). It seems to me that for 7K, asking for a chrome option is not asking too much.

I do like the chrome finish and if I were to buy an M9 it would indeed be a nice option.

In and of itself however, the finish is not a strong incentive or disincentive for buying the camera.

I would have bought a chrome one 100% if it had been available when I bought my M9. However, I had to buy the black one, and in retrospect I am totally happy. I would not change it for a chrome one now. It looks so nice. I might add that the black coating is more wear-resistant than my bright chrome Leicas.

IF I could afford/justify an M9, then yes, I'd love a real chrome finish.
I always was a black camera kinda guy until I got my M3, (and then a chrome M6 TTL, and a Nikon S2...and a bunch of chrome lenses), but now I love the look of the chrome bodies. And the little extra heft of the lenses.

But I don't see myself buying an M9 anytime soon. Regardless of the finish.
That's a whole lot of film before I hit 7K$ !

I'd like a nickel or titanium finish M9 better than chrome. But I agree with dof, it's not a major issue. Also, with two M8 (one black one chrome) I'm pretty heavily invested and can't see myself getting an M9 any time soon.

I'd like a black chrome m9. My M6TTL has been tough as nails and I'd like to see it carried through to the new m9.
