Hi there,

Looks like the front cap for the 50mm f/1.4 LTM is 50mm ... It's going to be tough to find. I've just check on Ebay and there are none ... Does somebody know what is the diameter of the rear cap ? And where to find it ?

Thanks for your help !

Fred

cap size is 48mm as is the filter size.
rear cap is standard ltm at 39mm, there are lots on ebay usually. they can be found in plastic or metal.
keep the hood on the front and you won't need a front cap.

it is a 50mm for a push on cap.
i was thinking of a cheaper clip on and that would be 48, same as the filter size.

the canon push on cap will be harder to find and more expensive.

my local camera shop still has some 48 gear on hand. i can look for a lens cap if you like.
but i still would just use a lens hood alone.

You looking for a metal or plastic front cap? I think they switched ~1961. I have a 50mm push-on "Canon" plastic front-cap (the right one for 1.4/50 Ser.II), looking for a 42m (metal or plastic) or 60mm (plastic).
cheers, Frank

I always add generic caps to my film orders. I buy the caps I need and the ones I anticipate needing. LTM and M rear caps are a little hard as they are more expensive. I pick those up from ebay. Low quality, but they get the job done.

You are right, but esp. the "CANON A" plastic rear caps are best to screw on... for using in the field *any* front cap makes the job. In fact a 49mm Pentax or Minolta clip-on cap works on most lenses with 48mm filter (at least on my Nikkor 2/85)
