Rear lens cap for nikon 50mm 1.4 lens

I purchased the re-issued black S3 kit from stefcuoz, and have a question about the 50 1.4 lens that came with it.
The lens was complete with shade and front cap, but no rear lens cap.
Is this something I can source easily and reasonably, or will I end up fabricating something to cap it when I'm using another lens on the body?
As an alternative, would a rear cap from a Russian lens for Kiev & Contax cameras fit the Nikon?
And does anyone have one by Nikon, Jupiter Contax or whomever that they would sell (and I don't care what it looks like as long as it works)?

If I remember correctly I used the black film container cap ( gray ) as a rear cap.

Can't remember whether it was this seller or not, but the caps work well. I use them on Contax, Nikon-S, Juipter etc.

There used to be a strange guy living in some remote Toronto suburbs who had specialized himself at making lenses caps using vitamins and pills bottles caps and bottoms, you should get in touch with him, he might have made one for the Millenium Nikkor already.

The plastic lid of a Kokak film cannister works perfectly, grey or black. You need to use a razor blade or sharp knive to remove the inner lip. Very easy because it's so soft. I've been using a couple of these for years. Otherwise, you can usually experiment with medicine bottle lids.

Seller heavystar on eBay sells aftermarket caps for Nikon rangefinder lenses. I've bought a few; they fit perfectly.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions, all.

I have three S3s an SP, and the CV R2s, which is about two rangefinder bodies more than I need, so I intend to sell one of the S3s and probably the SP as well.
As for selling the 50, I'm determined to give it a try first and see if I can grow to like it. If not, I'll sell it because I have the 35 1.8 which I do like very much.

I'll first try the film cannister or the Woolite fabric softener cap first, and if either doesn't fit well, buy one of those caps from the person in Japan.

Problem solved.
I took the modified Woolite cap slice that I use as a back cap on the Jupiter 50mm f2 lens that came with one of my S3 bodies, and it works like a champ. Done and done.

The only inexpensive source for rear caps for the 5cm & 50mm internal mount Nikkors that I have been able to find are from an eBay seller with the handle of nobbysparrow from Japan. His price is $10.00 per cap and a single flat rate of $3.00 for worldwide shipping. His caps are a pretty good approximation of the Zeiss Ikon #727 cap, but without the felt lining. Moreover, his caps do not mount to the bayonet lugs as do the vintage Nikon "S" caps. Instead, his caps are a friction fit with the back of the lens.

However, if you want a vintage Nikon "S" rear lens cap, they do occasionally appear on eBay. However, they can be a bit pricey.

In the USA I can obtain the "Robitussin" brand of cough syrup. At least the 8 fluid ounce sizes come with a measuring/dosing cup that is perfect for inner-bayonet RF Nikkors (pretty much the 50s). The lens nestles into the cup, right up to the main part of the lens housing, which sits nicely on the brim of the cup. This way not just the rear-element glass but all the bayonet parts & little openings into the lens housing interior are sheltered from dust, etc. I slide the whole affair into one of those little padded cases sold for mini-digital cameras - this way when I take the lens out to use the cup stays at the bottom of the case.

Unfortunately I'm relatively healthy and accumulate lenses faster than diseases - hence the medicine cabinet full of unused expectorant syrup.--alfredian
