Today I bought a J-8 with a Zorki 4K as a rear lens cap.
It trned out tha the Zorki is in much better shap than thought, the only thong is the shutter that is sticky at the low speeds (at 1/30 os slower sometimes it does not even close completely.
Is there an easy way to fix this?
Can you point me to some step-by step instructions on shutter servicing for the Zorki 4K?

Thanks

Hi,
Try this link http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-58.html
The problem is usually caused by dirty spindles under the timing mech (where you select the speed) and sometimes a dirty return arm (mainly used for the B setting. Rick also suggests the gears but I find that this tends to be the cause of jams). Worth a try if the first one doesn't work. A small application of ronsonol works well but if it comes back, it may need more thorough attention.

Thanks for the link Kim

Looks a kind of job beyond my current capabilities, maybe in a few months time, if I start practicing luing lenses and similar simple jobs.

Are you aware of websites that explain how to calibrate FSU lenses?
I know you are very kindly doing my J-9, but I also have a J-8 and an I-61 to do, and plan to get a J-3, so I think it would be better if I learn how to do my own instead of exploiting fellow RFF members.

Thanks

Hi,
I took a series of photos whilst doing the I61's, L/D's and half way through doing the J8's. I will start your J9 tonight and will be taking photos as I go. As soon as I get some time (and people stop sending mr things to do) I will write it all up in PDF format and put it on here and my website. As far as the J3 is concerned, Brian did a great job of explaining how to do those. http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13670&page=2&pp=20&highlight=jupiter-3

Well you could start charging a (reasonable) fee for your work, that way I could send you my lenses without feeling guilty ;)

What's to feel guilty about. What goes around, comes around. It doesn't cost me anything and helps to "pay" for all the favours and odd bits that people have sent me.

I knew someone was working on that here and when I posted earlier, I couldn't remember who it was or where I'd read it. Good for you KIm.
