Hi all - Canon 7 help, please - Where to start on reassembling the shutter speed / ASA dial correctly after a top plate removal to ensure that the lightmeter is correctly set up?

I assume teh meter needs setting to a specific point prior to the speed dial being put back - what is the magic setup for this?

The lightmeter works, the top cover is on (but can come off again) and the speed dial is still to be put back on.

Any instructions or notes or pointers to a web reference would be appreciated.

Cheers, Norm

1st Step: set the shutter speed to a known setting.

2) Get an accurate meter reading of a known scene with another camera or handheld meter. I use a uniformly colored wall.

3) Use a jewelers screwdriver to move the Canon meter's F-Stop reading to agree with the known-good meter.

4) Put the shutter-speed dial back on.

One more step needs to be added to Brian's procedure -- set the ASA dial on the shutter speed knob and the reference meter to the same ASA.

Also, look for pictures of the top of a properly assembled Canon 7. If you can read ASA, shutter speed, and the f-stop dial, you have it all.
