Well, I was really exited to open the mail box and find the Lynx 14E that I bought on ebay. The exitement didn't last long. 😱
Deep scratches on the lens.
Green corrosion growing out of the top cover.
Moldy stinky leather case, complete with dead bugs inside.
And some idiot took an etching device and scratched in the words "sunny/cloudy" on the aperture ring. I am not even going to bother with this one. I don't mind repairing, cleaning and reviving a 40 year old camera but this is to much.
I will keep it for parts.

I did let the seller know that she should not advertise anything like this in working order.
Maybe it was working as fertilizer when it was buried in the garden 30 years ago?
I also told her not to pull items out of the trash and sell them on ebay.

I will try again I guess! :bang:

I was sent a camera for repair that had come from e-bay. It had live cockroaches still in it!

Hmmmm, maybe my camera and that one came from the same dumpster.

I read the fine print about no refunds but maybe she should have advertised like this............

Yashica Lynx 14E IC
Deeply scratched lens!
Green corrosion!
Moldy case complete with dead bugs!
Right out of the dumpster and ready for the trash can!

Been there ... done that .. re-done that ... re-done that ....
Now i'm trying to buy only cameras that work, mainly here on RFF.... But hey, just last week i bought an kiev that seems a swiss cheese so many light leaks it has 😀 ...

BTW, if you ever dissassemble that lynx i could be interested in one ring of the lens assembly... 😉

I have one to trade.....

The only real problem is a slightly hazy viewfinder. The camera is in reasonable condition and makes very nice images. The case is scratched, but clean enough. I bought a battrey converter from "Yashica Guy". Also, Mark Hama can clean the VF and upgrade it so it flares out less in bright light. I understand the flaring is common in this model. I'm not sure what to trade for. I suppose I could use a decent darkroom timer. I'm a little tired of using my cell phone's stop watch function. The phone is starting to smell like stop bath. If anyone is interested, I will post a complete description.
