Just got it this morning and it's back to its wonderful working condition!
As some here already know, the upgraded shutter is, to my ears, much quieter and smoother than the previous... no more stapler sound & "thwack" in the hands from the force of the shutter...
Total turnaround time was approx 4 weeks.
Good timing too - just sold my pentax & nikon DSLRs...

awesome. Do you need to have the .2 to get the delayed recock or does the upgrade do that too?

Unfortunately, it's only the quieter shutter - no delayed recock as that's only available on the .2...
However, after hearing this upgrade, I can see how that delayed recock would make it even more discrete. I'd say that this upgrade, as is, is quieter than my old M6 - speaking of course of the shutter only... not the automatic recocking...

Do you find a noticeable reduction in vibration - i dont care as much about the noise but lower vibration would help slower handheld shutter speeds.

It does feel like the vibration has been reduced (or rather less inertial mass from the shutter? - there's a reason why I didn't major in physics). I was shooting tonight at 1/15 with a 35mm lens and found that I didn't have to brace my arm as much as I used to.
Then again... it's been a month without the camera so I could be wrong...

I found the new shutter a lot quieter too but the lack of vibration is the biggest plus. The delayed recock is very much a great thing and if I was to buy again I think the 8.2 is worth it for that alone. The thing I found weird though is that there seems, at least on the one I used, to be two distinct "clicks" when the shutter fires even when speeds are really fast. It's hard to describe, but it sounds like the shutter is MUCH slower than it actually is. Has anyone else noticed this?
